We dont see Sensei O'Neill at the Brisbane Dojo all that often these days. He assisted our team with prep for the 9th World Tournament but the last time I saw him was the shodan grading in September '06.

The bloke has pretty much been doing karate full on most of his life and after a successful career is just winding down.

Its good when he comes to the dojo though. Seems to lift the morale.

From memory he's probably 5' 8" or 5' 9" and middleweight (70-80kg), correct me if I'm wrong anyone!

The first time I saw Gary O'Neill compete was at the Australian National back in 1993 at the Sydney town hall. he was only 18 or 19 years old. He won the lightweight division. In the final he won by ippon (ushiro mawashi geri) he opponent was out cold. it was a long time ago but from memory he had 4 fights and I'm pretty sure none of the fights lasted the distance. Just an awesome figher to watch even back then.
