1st World Open Karate Tournament 1975 (IKO) - Final 16
4th All Japan Open Karate Championships 1972 (IKO) - 2nd Place (Lost to Miyuki Miura)
1st European Championships 1978 (IKO) - 1st Place HW (Defeated Jeff Whybrow)
British Open Championships 1978 (IKO) - 1st Place
British Open Championships 1977 (IKO) - 1st Place HW (Defeated Bill Walsh)

Shihan Howard Collins was the first to do the 100 man kumite compulsorily in one day. Hanshi Steve Arneil did his all in one day first.

shihan collins is a british legend, if you look at any of the footage of the day including some of the original japanese videos he looks like a character from "the sweeney"..which for those of you who have never seen it was a police series in the 70`s

By all accounts he's still very fit and doing a great job in Sweden.

great to hear he`s still very fit, i think it was in the"strongest karate" where he is filmed crossing the road and getting into something like an old ford granada,if you`ve seen the clip you`ll know what i mean

I've got the DVD - I know what you mean. He's signing an autograph for a youngster but somehow looks like he's writing him a ticket. Maybe it's his Police Service ....

A recent visitor spoke to me about him after going to his Dojo - he was very impressed!
