Do you really want some of the crowd that UFC attracts. -- This post was moved from http://www.kyokushin4life.com/forums...your-dojo.html . This is a question that could possibly go off-topic in the thread with good tips. Osu.

Osu!
Yes, but a very particular segment of that large and diverse population. I want the ones who are interested in hard work, sweat, and improving themselves through the Martial Arts. Osu!

Yes, membership is membership as long as the attitude is right and I think that Kyokushin because of it's contact nature can attract some of that crowd. I have a few students who come to me for Kyokushin to improve their stand up and also train at BJJ or MMA.
We (us and another Kyokushin dojo in the area) have actually rented a booth at the Mixed Martial Arts Expo on June 21, 22nd (www.mixedmartialartsexpo.com)to see what interest we can generate for Kyokushin. So far other than Muy Thai and MMA, BJJ we are the only martial art represented. Like anything else, once you attract students the good ones stay, and the ones that don't fit (attitude problems or lack of willingness to work hard) end up leaving pretty quickly so this weeds out the undesirables pretty fast. |
