Ever heard of Bas Ruttten?
He's a MMA fighter, who has made some self defence movies.
Please enjoy, it's very effective.

The movie is entitled Ong Bak. If I remember correctly. He's very, acrobatic.

Ong Bak is a cool movie.
Although I got really tired of the 5 slowmotion replays they did of every spectacular kick/jump.

NO, that movie is not Ong Bak.
Ong Bak is an earliermovie, where tony is from a small buddhist village and some theives come and steal the Statue(OngBak) from thier alter. Tony goes to the big city to get it back and ends up fighting for money in an underground club.
Its a really cool movie, but the moves in OngBak are based on Muay Thai.

The clips nzproud posted are from "Tom-Yum-Goong" and apparently the style used is a mix of muaythai and "elephant style" where the arms of man are used like an elephant would use its trunk....dont qoute me on that though!

Heres a cool trailer from ONG BAK: (worth watching!)

I'm sure the movie is called "The Protector" in English.

Ong Bak was kind of Tony Jaa's way of saying, look, this is Muay Thai. Tom Yum Goong seemed to be his way of saying, ok, I showed you Muay Thai, now I'm going to show you how good I am at martial arts in general. There was a lot of Aikido and Judo used in that sequence. Tony Jaa is a physical phenom, but he's also very technically skilled at martial arts. That's not something most stunt men turned actors can say.

Um - I don't speak a lot of Thai, but Tom Yum Goong is spicy prawn soup, unless I am mistaken. Seems like a strange name for a MA movie (sound more art-house, like "Like water for Chocolate"...). Have I misunderstood?

I think the arms represent how the trunk and tusk of the Elephant would be used as weapons.
Both movies are pretty good, but his 1st movie... esta estupida
Was about super human zombie like fighters who couldnt be killed. Tony Jaa was not the man or fighter that we know today. Also it seems that the producers of Ong Bak & Tom YoonGong have not been able to do what they did with TJ. I have seen 3 other flicks by the same producers and all are bad.
