Osu from Profacci Sensei - AKKO
Hello all,
I am glad to see that K4L is still up and running. I have not been on this site for a couple of years. Keep it up!
My name is Ed Juarez Profacci Sensei (Nidan). I am a member of the American Kyokushin Karate Organization and reside in Los Angeles, Ca.
I have been training and fighiting in Kyokushin Karate since 1994 under the instruction of Armando Cappa Shihan.
I currently train and teach KK as well as work with MMA fighters, Muay Thai Fighters and others in stiking and conditioning. I have trained and worked with several UFC fighters and boxers and continue to train young KK fighters on a regular basis. At the tender age of 35 I still love a good fight and the thrill of training for it. Also, we are currently working on an open tournament in the Los Angeles area with a pretty large venue and all fighters from any knockdown styles are welcome. I will post that information as soon as it becomes a done deal. I look forward chatting and making new friends with you all. OSU!!!!

I was a previous member of the AKKO under Shihan Hartzog until he moved to Tennessee. I currently train Muay Thai now.
I remember an inspiring video that was put up on youtube about a white belt training in the AKKO. Was that your dojo?
Welcome aboard and look forward to your contributions.

Which fighters in the UFC have you trained? Only ask because I have trained with a few, myself, but I didn't train them for the UFC.
Hope you enjoy your stay here.

POWEROFONE:
I have worked with Vitor Belfort and Hector "sick dog" Ramirez from the UFC. I have also worked with various MT pros. I am at the point where I am starting to involve myself in more cross training with other styles. LA is a Mecca for MMA gyms and fighters so it's almost impossible not to come accross this type of fighter. Although I am close friends with Vitor's manager and thats how that came about. 8-)
I think more MMA fighters (Machida, Shogun, St. Pierre, Belfort) are starting to incorporate Karate into their arsenal. There is a lot more Kyokushin being incorporated into the UFC than most people know. Shogun has been training with Glaube Feitosa as well. I am not an MMA expert but someone has to teach these guys some proper kicking technique and solid striking 8-)

I trained with Vitor many years ago when I first started BJJ under Marcelo Alonso. Also got an interesting seminar by CarlsonGracie Sr. (RIP) around the same time. Over here, near Seattle, we have had many top UFC and MMA fighters for a long time with AMC nearby. Many of the pioneers of the UFC were AMC trained at one time or another and many former Pride fighters from Japan come state side to train at AMC (Matt Hume of AMC was a judge in every Pride event). I've trained with some MT pros and I know Dent and quite a few others on here but that was because of my training in Muay Thai, not karate.

Welcome. Good luck on the tournament organization. LA definitely needs more open knockdown tournaments.
Are you out in Sherman Oaks?
