Another new guy in the dojo

Osu! Great source of info on this forum. Middle aged guy, new to Kyokushin. Did Japanese Goju Ryu and Judo for about two years in my 20s, but keep popping my left knee. Kept in pretty good shape but didn't do any more martial arts until I started Shotokan at 40y. Got nothing negative to say about Shotokan, just after 18 months I wanted to try something a with a bit more kumite, a little less kata and the great conditioning workout that I got with Goju Ryu. So far, Kyokushin has more that filled that need. Interested in hearing from other middle aged karatakas and instructors that might have some tips for late bloomers.

Welcome in the forum
A good tip is listen always to your body
build up training sequence very slowly because it takes a little longer
to heal from injuries ,
and avoid tournaments with 20 year olds.
For the rest have fun and rely more on technique instead of condition and stamina .
