Saturday was a bad day for karate (spoiler warning)
GSP came in decked out in his kyokushin finery. He had the kanjis on his gi and on his blackbelt and said osu. He even did the bow with crossed arms thing (the knockdown karate bow). He was really playing up the whole karate deal.
What happens? Little Matt Serra from Long Island, a BJJ blackbelt, gets a first round knockout and becomes the UFC welterweight chapion of the world.
And my sensei loses the Sabaki Challenge in Denver.
Let Saturday be marked as a black day in the calendars of karate.

There were only four women fighters , three japanese and a german girl . The german girl won first place. Mens divisions dominated by japanese fighters : all weight classes first and second japanese fighters. These are not official results , only from me . I have the names also , but I'm lazy to post them.
The competitor attendance was lower then last year - I mean , a WT with only 4 countries and under 8 fighters in each weight class ? Enshin needs to do something about making this tournament bigger.

I think if Enshin guys went into other competitions and won it would bring more attention to the style, and the competitions.

Unfortunatelly Kancho Ninomiya doesn't allow them to do that, so...what goes around comes around.

I would slightly correct You kyofighter-san:
"what goes around comes BACK around"

As a fellow karateka, I feel sad when I hear that a famous knockdown tournament is shrinking .

I dont usally make it a habit of the UFC but i did make it a point to visit the local Hooters to check out UFC champion. It wassss definantly a sad sight for that night. Serra hit him hard too. What did ya think about the other fights? oh and sorry for my ignorance...what is BJJ??

I know GSP is a much better all around fighter than matt serra but I think GSP gave him too much respcet for his ground game. GSP is decent on the ground what he should have did was try to take him down for some ground and pound. Next time I am sure GSP will prevail.

There was a guy sitting across from me, and said "Look Pierre is wearing a ninja suit!". of course i wanted to tell him what it all meant but here where i live, not to many people here even heard of kyokushin karate. i was the only one in the Hooters who knew what he was wearing. So i just bite my tongue and hoped that his actions would speak for him and the Kyoku. Still proud of him and that he is one of us and wanted to let everyone know that he is still a KYOKUSHINKA.

Noone is undefeatable, everyone lose some times.
Im sure GPS will work hard to win the next time (anyone else who sees a re-match in the near future?), and I hope he knows that he has our support.
GSP. Respect!
