osu,

don´t know why they don´t add the second 3rd place...

i think women -55kg it was tinea szabo. women +65kg?

anyone who was there?
i watched some fights at the livestream. i am not impressed as much... only romanian fighter marius ilas has a very good performance. in my opinion, he is the real middleweight european champion for the last four years. sad, that he retired some years, after a very bad decision against him at ec in hungary... ;-( he has more class than danish christiansen or the hungarian middleweights... hope to see him at ec 2009 and win...

on the other hand i wonder why some fihgters, man and woman, are in a class, where they obviously have nothing to do, depending on their weight... one day 69kg, next day 75kg...

i know a lot of this fighters and how they perform at other tournaments. and again i have the impression, that some of them work with "unallowed things". sorry, but that is not the real way of budo! i´m sad to see, that f. i. painkillers are allowed within wada - that´s curios in our sports... ;-(

anyone same expierience???

osu!

IKO 2 World Cup in June in St. Petersburg could be very intereasting. Karasyuk must be fvourite for the light weights and Ilas has put in a shout to up there with Yamada & Nesterenko. Also Magosi who won the IKO 3 World Cup in Aus in 2006 is a very strong fighter. Als will Dimitrov fight as MW or HW ?

I wish I was going back to St. petersburg to watch it !

osu,

the russian veteran karasyuk looks like a middleweight but fights in lightweight... but he do not impressed me too much. i think he could not win the world cup. i did not see rosza yesterday. he must be the main favourite in june. and do not forget the japanese and other two russian fighters...

i agree. mw will be very interested! as far as i know valeri dimitrov fights in lhw. there is no reason to switch to another class. but on the other hand: took him to heavyweight division. that would be interested. ;-)))

I saw it livestream, but not the hole event.. I agree Ilas was entertaining and he had a good performance.

Is Tomas Vik fighting in ALL tournaments in europa? hehe Did he not fight in Frech and Dutc open also?

Painkillers and the insane weightcutting..not Budo. How can (normally) a fighter take 50 heels, knees and lowkick to the same spot on the leg in a fight without blinking or slow down. And do this fight after fight? We all know the effeckt of these..

Cutting weight from 75-77kg and down to -70kg I have seen it,and feelt it. I`m about 72kg normally, and with the condition training before tournament the weight is around 70kg. Hight 1,75m so not a compackt guy. One time I met one fighter at about 1,85-90 and much bigger chest, shoulders and so. I could`n beleve that he was in my class. He did not block one singel lowkick, not in the first round not in the second. He did 4 fights and the same happened. Did not limp, just dancing at the sayonara party. More than I did hehe =o)
Okay just had to tell about it....

osu,

tomas vik did not compete in holland. only france. he is a able fighter, but is to concentrate on his "advertisement"... that is not helpful for him...

and yes. you give the right impressions about some guys. i have talk to some good fighters and they have the same expierences... too bad.

Sadly, some will do just about anything to win. I know of a fight where one fighter had to be hospitalized afterwards due to the damage to his leg. (Debate as to whether it was a hairline fracture, or not.)

Basically, he is primarily a boxer, and stood there taking Gedan Mawashi for almost five minutes without blocking at all, just firing his punches. By the second minute people were looking at each other with raised eyebrows. By the end of the extension, the only ones who couldn't tell that there was something seriously odd about this were the gentlemen with the flags...

As tests for banned substances get cheaper and cheaper, it would be good to see them used at tournaments. As our tourneys are essentially amateur, masking agents etc would be an expensive thing to do just to win.

osu,

sadly some things, like painkillers, could not be tested... ;-( not taking such things is everyones thing by himself - he should ask himself, if this is the true way of budo.

i know some athlets, which train a lot of years very hard, for building up stamina, hardness and so on. but sometimes, i see new, young fighters, which have no breath after 9 minutes of raw fights. sorry, thats not normal. f. i. the final of hungrian open of women class -65kg. some guys are looking to me, like junkies. they should be banned from kyokushin. the obscure thing is, there is no money...only the victory or success... is that the true way of budo?

Much like cutting weight, some look for any advantage. (Personally, I feel that much of that stems from fear. but that may be a topic for another discussion.)

With the new software available, brackets can be done on the day, so weighing in can happen just before the division starts.

I have on occasion taken a couple of tylenol before a fight. Honestly it never occurred to me that I was giving myself an unfair advantage. I wasn't thinking about deadening the pain during the fight - I was purely thinking about the pain I knew I'd be feeling once the fight was over and the adrenaline faded... Is that the type of pain killers you guys are talking about, or are you more concerned about the harder stuff?

osu,

harder stuff is forbidden. narcotica could be tested by wada. but other things like your tylenol or better known as paracetamol, is not a part of prohibited list of wada - that´s the point... ;-(
