Jissenteki Karate fighter,Sensei Paul Silva's GNW Kyokushin Journey!
Osu! Everyone,
I wanted to give our Jissenteki Karate fighter, Paul Silva Jr. a deep
congratulations for winning the Heavyweight division in K-1 Kickboxing rules.
The last 5 months have been gratifying for Sensei Paul. In November of
2011, Sensei Paul won the IKF International Rules Heavyweight Kickboxing
title. Approximately, 3 weeks ago, Sensei Paul and his wife had their first
baby daughter and now, last night Sensei Paul had very good success at the
Great Northwest Kyokushin Open. The deciding technique in Paul's
match was a jodan hiza geri to his opponent's head. Another interesting
fact is that instead of using standard boxing gloves, the fighters in the
K-1 rules division had to use MMA gloves. Ouch!, but a very interesting
development in this new division for this tournament.
Our fighter/affiliate, Dominique Speight from Kaijin Gym took 2nd place in
the middleweight knockdown division losing a very close contest to 3rd
degree Black Belt, Toshiki from the Yamaki dojo. This fight could have gone
either way. However, an accidental face punch by Dominique swayed the
judges in favor of Toshiki.
I would also like to show my appreciation and thanks to fight coach,
Sam Radetsky from Kaijin Gym for cornering and training both fighters in
preparation for this event. Sam Radetsky was a former uchi deshi in
Ashihara Karate in Japan and now successfully trains knockdown karate
fighters, kickboxers and MMA fighters at the Kaijin Gym in Santa Cruz,
California.
Another update. Sensei Paul and I are working with another
colleague to have another Jissenteki War Games. However, this
time there is a strong possibility that we will have single fights on this
format instead of the tournament format. Fighters will be matched up
based on weight. Some of the matches will include knockdown karate,
K-1 rules Kickboxing and Kakutogi Karate (Similiar to Daidojuku with the
bubble mask). Details about the date and location have not been finalized.
However if anyone is interested, please contact Sensei Paul at
415-678-0154 or 415-829-8919.
You can also contact me, Sensei Peter Mouttapa at 650-776-5089.
If contacted, we will keep a file of your information to contact you
when the date and location of the venue is finalized.
Once again congratulations to all of the fighters.
Osu!
