Interesting thread, I imagine these types of things say a lot about a person's personality.
For me inspiration has come from:
Monkey - probably the first time I'd seen martial arts, hence my avatar
Lin Chung - from the Water Margin
James Bond - no body does it better afterall
Batman - no powers, but hands out justice pretty well

So what is this monkey character from? I've always wondered who that was on your avatar, and yes, you can't deny good ol JB
And yeah Ryan M. V. doesn't Jin from Tekken use a style based off of Kyokushin?
I can't believe I haven't seen Fist of Legend yet.... I bow my head in shame...

The sleeper has awakened...
Bold. Brazen. And just enough of a jerk to keep the happy-go-lucky people around in check.

Yes! lol Although I never actually watched it all the way through myself, my friends have exposed me to the point of being a fan. I heard that the voice actors said by far the hardest part was the incredible long sequences of screaming while going super saiyan

Osu, great thread! as a kid i was picked on for being very ginger, so Rogue was of course my hero, how she was super amazing at everything. over the years i have tended to find familiarity with characters who seem to be flawed in some way but have such a strong spirit that they carry on, such as Mal Reynolds from Firefly, Ripley in Alien and of course Kara Thrace in BSG. i think that as children we want to identify with these characters because we want to know that we are never alone in anything we do, be it in what we like to our family circumstances. Also as we grow up we still see ourselves in characters, whether we want to or not we we hope that if it was us we would react in the same way.
or this could just be my crazy geeky ramblings

I think you are completely right on the mark here, your description above is very much what I feel in my "relationship" between these fictional characters, both in how you put it when we are young and older. Also HOW could I forget Firefly!?! I love that show so very much! As far as Alien goes, just awesome, I can't wait to see Prometheus.
Kara is also awesome, even if I always identified with Lee. One thing I would never want to face is the Adama Glare... oh god, if only I could perfect this myself for my opponents in tournament fighting, they would lose the will to fight immediately. (If you are unaware of the Adama Glare here is a very educational link: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Adama_Glare )
