Nunchuck Kata

Does anyone have a example of the first nunchuck kata that is learned in Kyokushin? It started with a left hand turn, a slash, catch etc....I don't know the proper names for it...

OSU

Thanks

Osu,

Didn't know that there is a standardized nunchaku kata in Kyokushin. Some of our kids does one using Taikyoku shodan and we have different versions - the more proficient they become, the more movements and different stances they do. But it is optional for those wanting to do it.

Well then for me there was a nunchuck kata here on the East Coast ( New York ) that was used...I probably remember 85% of it, but forgot some of the finer details...to view a video of it would be very good for my aging memeory

If you came from the Shigeru Oyama lineage, Shigeru and especially Yasuhiko Shihan were very much into kobudo - so it could have been their own.

Osu Ashiharakaicho !

We do one too and I believe you are correct with it originating from kobudo. Which one are you looking for, Chakuriki ? I believe we do a double nunchuck version.

Double Chucks - that requires skill. Nunchaku's are not my favourite weapon - knocked myself unconscious circa 1978 and just had a difference to it since then ...

How happy I was there was no one to see me do that ... I just wondered why I was lying face down on the ground when I came to ... took me a while to realise what happened.

Guess what, I once filmed myself doing ushiro mawashis on the heavy bag. Must have been 16 years old or so. During this session I tripped... and fell crashing to the floor. Not only was that very embarassing, but my older sister found that tape and showed it to anybody she could think of... We still laugh about it more than 20 years ago. Well, martial "artists" and vanity...

Back to the original topic, I have nothing to add to that topic, sorry.

OSU!

Thanks - I must see if I can compress the version we do for uploading - using the Taikyoku format with different movements.

Thank you, the one I'm looking for is even simpler...that is less swinging per step.

But thank you

I'm putting the call out again for anyone who may remember the nunchuck kata as taught by Soshu Oyama.
