Chess boxing?
I have just seen an advert for chess boxing, at first i thought it was a joke!
Do any of you guys have any experience or know anything about this...could anybody explain the rules or tell me more about it?

Thanks Epking!
If you can get the two Darrens to have a knockdown version of this at one of your promotions in Crawley you can stick me in for a ringside seat please!

Actually, as far as I know it's quite simple. Boxing for a round, and then chess for a specified amount of time. Then boxing again, and then chess again, and so on. Quite an idea, I think, I like this concept of "Muscles and brains" very much. Now imagine a "chess knockdown Karate" tournament. How cool that would be!
See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_boxing for some more info.

Just playing chess with boxing gloves would be a challenge enough!

You've got to admit it's fairly amazing marketing and promoting from Iepe Rubingh to turn something utterly ridiculous with very few particpants into something that most people have heard of and would pay money to go and see (albeit still utterly ridiculous but with a few more participants!).
Anyway, I'm thinking about my next venture: Baking Knockdown! Any takers?

Excellent and you could use bag gloves as oven mitts saving time between rounds

And if we include Aussie Damper in there, we could also quite legitimately add a horse-riding leg to the competition. A tri-athlon no less.....bake,chess, ride.
