Wow, you oh so fortunate - I've been searching for years to get Brian Fitkin's Fundamentals book - may I ask how you got it?

Some of the basics in Essential Karate is done by the late Hideyuki Ashihara.

Mas Oyama's philosophy book is out of print and I think only a limited print was done hence the price of the book. One can pick up the german edition for relatively cheap.

I seen it on ebay there was another bidder, but I won the bid, I've seen them on amazon but they are asking silly money. I had a bit of luck on that. I'd keep checking ebay and amazon now and then, I keeping my eye out for a reasonable priced, the kyokushin way you never know

Cool - I did that for a while but don't always have the time - but I will keep on looking. Are those the only two kyokushin ones you have?

Thanks - starting collecting them around 1975 with my first two books being Karate by Bruce Tegner and Jiu Jitsu by Kiyose Nakae (paperback). Just kept on adding them and now have over a 1000 martial arts books and a couple of 1000s martial arts magazines - see http://www.kyokushin4life.com/forums...ad.php?t=13367

Most of my learning has been from books ...

Cool - you've been busy with you acquisitions - keep on going and you should soon have a pretty decent collection! I learnt Saifa being performed by Howard Collins Shihan from that book.

I had fundamentals of brian fitkin, i bought it for 200$. To be honest, it had nothing unique in it to add to my collection so i sold it back at the same price.

That has been in my thoughts for quite some time - the fact that I missed the opportunity but then on the other hand, my conscience would have troubled me for a long time. I've never paid that much for any book and doubt that I would - somewhere in the back of my mind, a little bird will tell you me that I am silly should I do so because with patience, I will someday get one for cheaper - that birdie has not let me down yet - but sometimes (most times) patience is a tough act to follow ..., but the end result is worth it ... Patience (Sabr) is mentioned many times in the Quran ... so what better can I do but to imitate ...

To be honest that book is just a collection of techniques combined to form a kyokushin syllabus. It has nothing new in it to offer. If you want a kyokushin syllabus there are better alternatives such as shihan howard collins book "shodan" for the same thing at a very reasonable price.

Thank you - I found Shihan David Cook's book still to be the leader in that regard - excellent presentation of the syllabus with hundreds of superlative technique.

The others of a similar nature are not too bad - but to me, his was the best one (actually first one in that sense).

The Fitkin book will be an addition to my library - not that I am depending on it for learning although I do look forward to seeing what it contains in comparison.

So it was you who outbid me Dazz
As you say ashiharakaicho, a bit of patience and something will turn up eventually. Been lucky enough to 'bag' a few bargains via eBay, Shihan Cooks book being one of them.

Hey, I will have to let you know its me when I bid again, so that we don't do like the above and then can get it at the cheapest possible price ...

How badly do you want your copy?

I have a few extra for trading purposes.

I`ll trade you an original kyokushin way for an original Power Karate Volume 1 ( below on the left) by DC Cook.

Let me know
