In that year the Japanese lost all champion titles but one (lightweight), and that guy was not Kyokushin. Tsukamoto Norichika Shihan could not fight to defend his title because he was caught smoking pot the year before (he was originally a World Cup Team member that time).
And for Matsuiha there also have been non-Kyokushin fighters in World Tournament Teams before.

Thank you for correcting me.., But I feel as long as every one takes a distrustful, pessimistic view of this subject, then nothing will change.

Stupid reason to get kicked out of a tournament in my opinion, not like its a performance enhancing drug, it could be argued its the opposite, but I understand it was probably about the politics of it being illegal and so forth...

Neither are Opium and Heroin.
If Kyokushin is only a sport or wants to be branded as one.

From the picture that is very noticeable. One would have considered that with them attracting fighters from outside, that perhaps it might have brought in more spectators, which in this case does not seem to have worked.
Or spectators are just too confused or tired themselves of the many different events being hosted that they don't want to support the smaller events anymore.

It worked very well. Shinkyokushinkai won before the Dream Cup even began.
Who cares about being OPEN ROFL! You?
Exactly in an invisible INTERNATIONAL event like this people are more willing to claim they are open in order to look good and forward thinking. Is not this claim a good publicity outside Japan, since people are too caught up with the banner of being OPEN?
I will wait to see how open they are in the male events.
By the way I have used the wrong picture. Instead of using those official Dream Cup publicity pictures from the Shinkyokushinkai website taken during the prize presentation ceremony which no one focuses on the audience, I used a wrong picture from outside which shows people actually watching the fights. My apology.

Not a problem - that is what a good investigative reported will do - that also gave me/use the opportunity to actually see the real deal ... and not what the organisation want people to see ...

Thank you - it does give an honest perspective. What is great is the trophies they are awarding even for the kids divisions. In South Africa, the All Styles association normally gives out medals and many of the FC stylist don't like that - they want big trophies and generally FC tournaments then run at a loss because the entry fees does not cover the trophy costs.

Osu,
The clips also give an idea - I have a question - in many FC style tournaments we have spectators around the tatami - in WKF tournaments they are kept away from the floor. Anyone know why this is allowed in FC type events? It does look messy and then the spectators seated can't see so they then too throng forward. When that happens it looks terrible ...

It's right ! I dont remember in which world tournament had a Seidokaikan fighters in the World Tournament of IKO 1. In the First and Second had some of traditional Karate too. So, this is not a new step...
I guess a little funny the title " World OPEN Tournament" but block some fighters by different organizations...

There is a difference between world open tournament (open= open weight), and open world tournament (open = anyone welcome)

Thanks - that puts it so much into perspective - its a misnomer that can fool people because they only see Open and think it is so when it is not ...

This is not true in the Japanese names.
Be it an open tournament or a weight tournament, the Japanese name usually come with the phrase "open tournament" first. If it is a "weight tournament" then it will be indicated so, otherwise it is an open weight tournament by default (there are All-Japan with weight divisions though, especially for small groups). "Open" is never used to indicate "open weight" in Japanese.
