KKNY or World Oyama?

Hey ppl

I was wondering if I can get reviews on these two dojos (Kyokushin karate New York & Oyama) in NYC.
Such info as atmosphere, class descriptions, pricing, and personal opinion are preferred.

Btw, these dojos I am talking about are the ones in the city (manhattan).

This MA caught my attention because of its training intensity, full contact style, constant kumite, and preparation for real world combat. Before, I thought about taking up sanshou/ muay thai. But that thought dragged along the time that passed and never came to be.

This will be the first MA I will take up. So I hope this is going to be the right choice since I have some kind of Choice-Phobia Disorder when it comes to picking ONE disciple to learn. (Hehe ) Too much inspiration these days (For this one, Fighter in the Wind and Kuro Obi got me to it). I think Kyokushin practitioners are the toughest motherFk's in the MA world. With this, I wish to be a fearless fighter just like the rest of you KyoK fighters.

So, any encouragements, discouragements, pros, and cons fill me up.
Thank You all in advanced.

Osu eelunagi89, I agree, we live in a world of too much choice... this can be overwhelming and detrimental and at times the risk is to end up "butterflying" from one flower to the next without ever reaching the inner nectar.

There are members from both organizations on K4L and I think from both dojos you mention, so you will receive all the advice you are seeking; however, why don't you drop by both dojos & get a feel for yourself?

In the meantime, as you are new with us, would you mind telling us a little bit about yourself in the introductions section of the forum, so we can give you a proper K4L signature welcome?

Osu!

Osu!

Agree with FredInChina. There are many excellent Dojo in Manhattan, and my opinion on the best option for you would be to visit them all!

Our own Sato-Sensei has a Dojo there, along with Iwata-Sensei and Honma-Sensei. If you're interested in something a little different, yet maintaining traditional values, please visit the Kudo classes too. Ito-Sensei and Hirono-Sensei will be able to work with you personally, as we have a small group setting.

Really, being in Manhattan isn't the worst place for the Knockdown and related families.

Osu!

Thanks for replying guys
I do in fact plan to drop by these places, maybe watch a class and talk about payment plans (im a college student.. so my budget isnt exactly on par with bill gates'...). But if when I do decide on which dojo, I can get something sorted out.
Also, can I also have a list of KShin Dojos around manhattan?
Thanks again

So true!

Definitely visit each one and see which one you like the most.
