I remember reading somewhere that Cameron Quinn Shihan is a BJJ Blue belt? Purple Belt?

Don't know what his grade is. I do know that he started training in BJJ at least 20 years ago. I don't know how rigorously, or if he even formally graded, but he was definitely training and mixing it with the best.

If K4L has a role in the karate, it must be that of a salon for exchanging ideas outside of organizational politics and dogma. It is not suited for being the great decider of all things. It is suited for being that small, persistent voice, for giving air to one's imagination, and for pricking the conscience of big organizations and individuals.

OSU!!

Shihan Quinn was recently here in the NYC area and spent some time training the "Sweet Science" at Gleason's gym. His mentions on Facebook indicated he truly enjoyed indulging into the physical and technical aspects of boxing.......but also the ambiance and history of Gleason's.

Also noteworthy is how much of a proponent of Yoga that he is. As many of you know, Yoga is a great supplement to Martial Arts training......providing you have the time and money of course. I know he has been involved with and or trained Muay Thai as well in the past...(SteveK can probably confirm this further.....)

While most of you are probably already aware of all this.........it does beg the question.....Is Shihan Quinn developing a particular system, or is he simply enjoying training in the varying arts and such? And if he is developing some sort of system for "Sport", who else is involved?

I maybe looking to deep into it........and the wonderful thing about Shihan Quinn is his openness and availability to everyone......and maybe that is all that it is......which is fine as well!!!

OSU!!

Thanks, Fred.

Yoga? That's interesting. There are yoga like aspects of karate training suggesting an early link: ibuki; warrior pose; vital body areas (targets).
