Japanese term for full contact kumite

Osu,

Is there a Japanese term for full contact kumite or (as is so common) do they just say
フルコンタクト組手 Furu Ko n ta ku to kumite ?

For example, for years we used Hayaku as a command for fast in our dojo, only to hear speedo in Japan!! The same goes for the terminology in the Japanese Kyokushin and offshoots books - much of it is simply translated into kana, including punch in one book!.

Anyway, the reason I am asking is: In Japan there is an organisation that has both "traditional" / "ZenKuRen kumite" and Full Contact in their tournaments. In fact, they have Kyokushin, shito-ryu, Goju-ryu and Shotokan groups affiliated and they use フルコンタクト組手 (Furu Ko n ta ku to kumite). Is this common?

Domo Arigato Gozaimasu!

A common term of full-contact is 直接打撃制.

http://www.kyokushinkaikan.org/ja/gl...a/post-15.html
フルコンタクト is also used. In fact you can see フルコンタクト in bracket to explain 直接打撃制.

More often we hear people say フルコンタクト空手/直接打撃制空手 rather than フルコンタクト組手.

直接打撃制ルール/フルコンタクトルール are also used.

フルコンタクト組手 is correct but less often heard in Full Contact styles. To separate the different styles of Kumite in one organisation using フルコンタクト組手 is okay.

As for no-contact Karate more often we say 伝統空手 or 寸止め空手.

As for those other styles I have no information since I am interested in Kyokushin only.

Osu,

The organisation I was referring to was the WBKL or World Budo League. They don't seem to use the K (karate) in the name. They refer to themselves at WBKL Furin kazan.

Do you know anything about them?

There are many organisations in Japan and I am in no position to judge or make recommendations based on a website.

Thank you - it was ust of interest that they offered both components - but it is not a train smash - I just stumbled across theirs and found it interesting to see that they catered for more than one grouping.
