What percent of those karate practitioners actually do any form of competition? Little kids and fat old man doing katas for belts as an argument for karate in the olympics is like saying that pole dancing should be in the olympics because so many people do zumba. This is about competition and sport, not about paying money to earn belts. As a sport, Wrestling is WAY more popular that Karate.

Karate is not a sport. The Japanese only sold you sport karate to get you interested..and in the world of sport karate the majority are actually outside of the WKF because of their elitest practices and quest for world domination. The sport, just as with Judo and Taekwondo, only serves to destroy the martial art and it's tradition! It's plagued by greed and politics. These pretty boy 'karateka' with their choreographed moves and WEAK techniques will win gold medals but then get beaten up in the streets. The world no longer respects karate as a martial art, and that is down to the disease that is sport karate! Too bad the majority of the world like you will never know the martial art. Meanwhile, real karatekas like myself who has been practicing Okinawan karate for 25 years are actually praying that karate never makes it into the olympics.

Karate is a joke! This is an athletic competition, maybe we should add pool!

Imagine what they'll say AFTER karate is in the Olympics...

Hey, it does look like most people support wrestling's re-inclusion, but then, one never knows how the "politicians will sway.

Many WKF stylist wants karate to be included and I guess if they miss 2020, it can be a serious setback where people will start losing faith.
