doc has cleared me for everything except hard sparring and weight lifting, I had my 1st set of 4 karate lessons behind me and feeling not to bad. Mr right arm/shoulder is tiring out very quick as the blood flow is restricted, it will never change as the vein is permanently damaged. My general condition is so, la la ;-) not really motivated nor fit, it is hard to accept such facts and to cut back in things you love to do.
my plan forward, I will focus on my legs and will change to a lefty....this should take some pressure of my damaged shoulder and hopefully in a year or so I have the same "bums" in my left arm.
the rest ist pretty much the same, blood thinner and still looking for work ;-)
cheers
Markus

Hey Markus, good to see you more or less back on track. And don't worry, aircraft engineering is always in need of good people, that should not take you long to become a member of the hard working engineering community again!

That would be a nice move. Good coin, and a nice feather in your cap. (Just had a student finish a contract with a Sheik. Very lucrative.)

cheers, money is not perfect or less than in Singapore but in my current situation its not about the money........I have a great customer relationship and if I can only take 10% with me to the middle east I will "upset" my current boss a lot.............its all about revenge ;-)
and the new boss would be pleased on his end :-) contract is not signed but I have a verbal and that counts a lot in those places....so yes, I have just told my company that they can not expect a lot from my end anymore........
so I guess the move is pretty much unavoidable...........
cheers

Congrats on your new plans mjv
....... although I am not so sure it is a good idea to write down the "revenge" part on a public forum...

Yes, it does.
Good luck, the UAE are a great place (just for how long until the oil runs dry?).

Looks like your desires are being fulfilled, MJV! I know Singapore will miss you, but it's good that you have a new opportunity!

oil runs out in around 10 years.........if I really planned to take that job (still not 100% sure) I would work for the owner of Manchester City ;-)
he has plenty of money and oil left I assume :-)

my usual update ;-)
I am back and train again 5-6 times a week Kyokushin, I still can't do hard sparring due to the blood thinner. The last scan has shown a permanent blockage of my vein as we have simply waited to long (various reasons, just don't ask) to remove that rib.
The actual operation and recovery is great, I can feel only a small discomfort after I hit the road on my bicycle and some hard upper body kihon.
I am not sure if I can hit the gym again or participate on tournaments but only time will tell and I need to keep a close eye on my arm/shoulder.
there is an option to bypass the whole area but this will be very messy and can only be done ONCE, the life span of such a bypass is between 5-8 years. So yes, not very happy about the news as it will affect my retirement plans ;-)
I have decided to continue doing what I love to do, kyokushin, cycling, hiking and teaching after all. If possible, I still want to fight either in Europe/ME or Asia and if I can get of the blood thinner the chances are there. As I am already past the 40 mark (oldy class), the risk is more or less predictable and I just have to put up with some extra trainings lessons to change my style (a lot).
cheers

Sounds like things are about as good as they're going to get, MJV. Hopefully you do see at least some small improvements going forward though.

Osu,
time for an update..
so it seems things are settling with my shoulder or at least not getting worse for now. Body has managed to create a bypass (not to 100% but 60-70%) and the blood thinner is helping as well. I was back on 6 times a week (kyokushin training) but have hit the gym for the past 14 days to see if my shoulder can handle a different work out. For sure I can not pack on more muscles however tackled my shoulder/chest/arms with high reps plus the standard "crossfit" program I used to do for years. It seems all is more or less holding together so I will start incorporating weights or "crossfit" back into my daily or weekly routine.
cheers
Markus
