I started training Kyokushin to be able to defend myself better, I had a limited amount of wing chun kung fu training that wasn't serving me well on the occasions that I had to fight.
Kyokushin really did make me a better fighter but I lost my way somewhere, I started cross training in judo and bjj before I really had a decent skill level in Kyokushin and in the end became very arrogant in my abiltys.
Somehow my original purpose became lost and I was training mma in order to crush opponents for the applause of a crowd.
Alot of downtime injured has had me re-evaluating things, all my worst injurys have come from grappling and mma training, I don't like the environment or the style of training in mma compared to a traditional martial art like judo or kyokushin. I really do enjoy judo and grappling but must admit that its been the bane of my continued abilty to train over the last few years.
The thought of strapping on a gi and fighting knockdown excites me alot but I'm afraid that my at times serious injurys may now be of a permanent reccuring nature.
