True, and Kancho Matsui's name is also a good trademark, I guess.

This KWF World Cup simply has zero search results from Japanese google news.

Prime locations, good advertising, best fighters.

Which year was that?

TBH I don't remember, it was one of the random videos found on youtube on a late evening. But I remember thinking "Hm, are there any other spectators beside athletes, coaches, friends and family"?

These are the all 4 Shinkyokushinkai World Cups which have been held, see if it helps to refresh your memory.
1st, 1997, Japan
2nd, 2001, Budapest
3rd, 2005, Japan
4th, 2009, Moscow

And one major difference between the KWF World Cup and the Rengokai World Cup is, KWF World Cup was an admission free event.

Osu!
Thanks for posting, KakatoOtoshi!
Alexey Gorokhov in the +90 really cracked that fighter from Japan. He didn't want any more after that Jodan Mawashi.
In the -90's, the rolling kicks were irritating and pointless. Gedan Mawashi for the win!

That's cool then that they are competing in open events ... just a pity that it is under his name and not that of Ashihara Karate.
