Imperial College London Karate Study

http://www.afpbb.com/article/environ...895751/9370934

Imperial College London published their study on 12 Yudansha and 12 rookies in the medical journal "Cerebral Cortex". The years of training will change the pattern in which the electronic signals go around the brain when one performs Karate movements.

OSU Kakatootoshi,

thank you very much for posting this! This is very inspiring for me as a scientist. Perhaps I should give it a try and write another PhD thesis, this time about something Karate related. Any suggestions for a topic? I'm open for anything...

OSU!

What about the type of person attracted to karate especially Kyokushin ? From my time on this forum I have found I live a very dissimilar life and exist in very different circumstances from most if not all contributors but there must be some link for all to be drawn towards this martial art .

OSU, sounds interesting. Being an engineer I thought more about something like the biomechanics of the mawashi geri, but the "social" aspects are also very interesting!

Great idea for a separate thread if you ask me - Repped if I can for asking something so thought provoking.

I think there is a core within Kyokushin, a morality that is not showy or flash but real and true, practical in both application and mindset. It is not about just being a fighter any more than it excludes fighting because the art is so deadly .

I am trying to think this through as I type so maybe this is not my whole answer but for now if I had to pin down within me, my fellow K4L'ers and my fellow karateka including my family what stands out about the Kyokushin Karateka it would be; most likely to don a mask and cape and fight for truth and justice? or help you move house This sounds extreme or flippant but just about everyone I know who is committed to kyokushin for life and living seem to believe that we are here to help and support not just train and fight and if you too are kyokushin you have an allie no mater if you live on the other side of the street or world. By being Kyokushin you are pre-approved

I know the problem with any sort of WHY question is the risk of an over simplistic ME TOO response, I think this is the difficulty with truly getting to the why of such things....interesting though they are.
