My read on this is that they were not trained as knockdown fighters. In the final kumite sequence, there are lots of kicks etc being exchanged, and it all looks impressive, but they fundamentally lack the distance and timing needed.

). Fighting knockdown definitely changes they way you move and hit and these women look to me to be from well and truly before the era when women were allowed to fight knockdown.
It's an interesting video - the thing that struck me most was the soundtrack. The music is so totally different to what would play over the kyokushin men's videos at the time (which was always warrior type music - think Stallone-type movie music). The music on this one would not be out of place on a video of lots of cute but puzzlingly unusual puppies.
