Dojos in central london
.
Osu kamz --- if you knew what you were looking for, that would be easier for the forum members to help you... Or maybe you are having difficulties formulating your question precisely?

Would you like some advice on how to chose a MA style adapted to your aspirations?

Osu!

Great! Let's try to precise things a little bit so the answers can really help you out:
Your profile says you are a student, 18 years old with interest in swimming & MA.
I will assume that you are reasonably fit and able and have some time available. At present you have no affiliation, and did not state a kyu/Dan grade - What is your level in MA?

Could you possibly let us know what attracts you in MA?
It could be for competition, getting fit, gaining self confidence, because it looks really cool, etc... or any other reason or combination of reasons.

From there, I am sure forum members will come up with good stuff for you.

IMHO, if you are a complete beginner in any of the styles you mentioned, choosing a dojo with a top notch instructor and a good environment, atmosphere, etc... is more important than any other consideration. You are darn lucky, London might well be the location in the world with the better choices...

I read Gary recommending a dojo and an instructor for you --- If the location is convenient and you like the place, you can safely trust Gary & go for it.

That's about as central as it gets I think! I doubt kyokushin would make an appearance in Soho, Chelsea or Mayfair! You will however find a lot of kickboxing round there. Also Kung fu, Wing Tsun, actually pretty much everything else. (Sigh I miss my kickboxing @ Danceworks W1 'bout 13 years ago now!)

pm me if you need anything else, hun. Prices - you're looking at breaking in a tenner pretty much.

Even though i love swimming and Martial arts, i havent done swimming in a long time, although i love it. Ever since i was 6 i have been interested in Martial arts, but as weird as it may sound i found kyokushin karate, while i was surfing the internet looking for " Jin Kazama's " fighting style from tekken 5.

Ive tried muay thai before and liked the pads training, ive also done kyokushin, last year to be exact for a whole month, and loved it. But due to some financial and personal problems i couldnt carry on.

Im a big kyokushin fan but i do also like other styles of MA such as Muay thai, Muay boran, Judo/jujitsu and Kendo.

I havent done any form of training for a year now so my fitness, has gone down. Although i would like to start again.

I also like the principles such as Sabaki since, its footwork and my friend is an amateur boxer and he teaches me boxing techniques such as, rolling, weaving and slipping, and teaching me 1,2 combos. Every time i do a 1,2 combo i always have an urge for kicking and using my elbow to follow through aftewards.

I want a combat effective art for the streets and for competition.

Ive also have a liking to the Yansu and Pinan Katas

what are the monthly prices for tokei?

Ive heard that sensei Orlando roach, is a very good teacher.

Osu!

Osu!

Yes he is the best (IMO!!! but I'm biased as he is my Sensei yay!)

You're right though he has a very very good reputation, and it is a lovely club with a nice privately run "feel".

Best email him at the email address there for the latest in monthly fees, they may have changed since I joined!

(BTW we stay on site for a drink after training) and try to go out terrorising SE1 on Fridays.
