I really really really wanna buy this, i have to save for this!!
I think its more like specific fighting techniques information and their applications, than a general encyclopedia of kyokushin kihon, kata and kumite.
Correct me if i am wrong.

you are not wrong.
This DVD set do not contain any kihon or kata. No formal training of any kind. It more or less builds on the presumption that you already got the basics down already.
Basically it is famous tournament fighters who show a little basic (in DVD1) and a lot of advanced kumite techniques, how to use them in tournaments and how to get the best use out of them.
Each DVD also have a short speach by kenji midori and a short section on training methods (striking pads for endurance, balance training etc etc), but that is really very little, and the vast majority is directly kumite related.

Japan is Region 2, so is all of Europe. This is the region limitation code built into DVD movies and players to make it harder to buy DVDs from other parts of the world. But since both Japan and UK are region 2, this is of no problem at all for you. It does not even need to be region free for you.
However, Japan uses NTSC-J picture format (525-line/60 Hz, 352 X 240 resolution) where UK and most of Europe uses PAL-B format (625-line/50 Hz, 352 X 288. resolution). Most modern (and many not so modern) system (at least when bought in Europe) are so called multisync, and can use both, but it all depends on your system.
So it depends on if your DVD (and TV if your DVD player understands NTSC but do not translate the signal to PAL automatically as most do) are capable of understanding a NTSC signal aswell as a PAL signal. Like I said. MOST systems sold in Europe today have no trouble with NTSC format. Unfortunately, MOST is not the same as ALL.
So really. you need to test your system with a cheap (or downloaded DVD-R) NTSC DVD before you can be sure.

My DVD set plays on my Region 1 DVD so I'm pretty sure these are region free DVDs.

Thanks Martin H and Smoothsake. I will have to check because I don't have a TV and DVD player - just a fairly old computer with a DVD drive.
