I always try a muscle milk after a post workout. It really fills me up quickly.

The best is to first determine what is your needs. If you need a general something - then the first I would suggest is to have a good multi vitamin supplement. There are many good ones on the market and it depends on what you need extra of. Sometimes even by having a good multivit, one needs to take additional iron, calcium, vitamin c, etc. depending on ones needs.
If you want to gain weight, well then you would take protein shakes, etc. If you want to loose weight, the opposite shakes and or CLA or a Phedra Cut supplement and so on.
All this can only be "prescribed" depending on what you need it for.

My opinion is that it is better to get your nutritional needs from healthy eating rather than supplements if you can.

I agree with Ros - it starts with a good balanced diet.

Talk to a doctor or a nutritionist. They can have tests run that will determine what you need.

I'd say lots of water, eating enough fruits and veggies, fiber, and a post work out recovery drink/meal like whey protein mixed with glutamine.
Making sure you stay hydrated is probably the simplest and cheapest supplement any physically active person can adhere to.

I agree with Ros and Sandman. Stick to a well-balanced diet with minimal intake of sweets and fried foods (man, I wish I could practice what I preach haha!).

A well balanced diet and supplements do not hurt as long as it is reasonable depending on the level of performance. Whey protein, nitric oxide, vitamins (Flintstones Gummies ), and triple omega 3-6-9 is all I add to mine. Out of the constant wear-and-tear of training, vitamins don't hurt. I use muscle milk before and after workouts. As long as the protein is put to use and you use only what you need your gains will be lean. As Sandman has said, hydrate above all others. Nothing matters if the body cannot get the nutrients transported efficiently to where they need to go (one of the many extremely important functions of water).

There are a lot of "weight gain" supplements on the market. Stick with the known brands like USN, Weider, etc. But use of that goes hand in hand with weight training for optimal results.

Add approx. 500Kcal to your daily diet. I guess you don't losing weight currently(if thats the case you need to add more than 500Kcal, but first you have to determine what is your daily needs). Back to the point. If you want to gain some weight add 500Kcal to your daily intake. You can do it by eating cca 130g of pasta, or rice or potatoes. You want to use complex carbs. Do it for two weeks and then check your weight. if it's still the same then add another 500Kcal. Do it until you gain cca 1Kg/2weeks.

Sandman's advice is great. Eat clean, real food, not McD's or any other takeaway garbage. Then eat a bit more if you want to put on weight.
I think I saw somewhere else that you're 17. All the advice here is great, but you'd do best to consult a nutritionist. You could still be growing taller. Who knows. I know a few guys who grew post-high school. Not by small amounts either. I'm not a big fan of supplements, especially for younger people. That would include myself, I'm not very old at 24. At least I hope not.

If you're talking taller, that's a bit predetermined by genetics. You're nearly fully grown now, if you aren't already. The people I mentioned that grew after graduation were very few. If you want to see if you're going to squeeze out a few more inches, a doctor can tell you if your growth plates have fused. If they have, you're stuck. Outside of outlandish and painful surgery that would leave you out of full contact competition anyways, be happy with the height you're at.
