Nicholas Pettas - Blue Eyed Samurai
Now Available
Blue Eyed Samurai: 1000 days in the Young Lions Dormitory By Nicholas Pettas

Ebook, EPUB for Adobe Digital Editions Format
Price: $11.20 (Download immediately)
The last uchi deshi (live-in student) of Sosai Oyama Masutatsu, Nicholas Pettas, takes you along on his adventure as an eager, 18-year-old boy going from Copenhagen, Denmark to the other side of the globe. Here, in Tokyo, Japan, he doesn't just find himself in another country, but in a different world altogether. The rigorous life of an uchi deshi is filled with drama and the struggle to survive. Even more so for a Western uchi deshi, thrown into an environment where everything is different – the food, the language, the life-style and, above all, the karate. Literally having to fight for his survival on a daily basis, Nicholas turns to his inner self to search for the strength needed to fulfil his dream of completing the daunting 1000-day karate course. Becoming a true lion in the art and sport of karate, and the last non-Japanese to complete Master Oyama's course, today, author Nicholas Pettas is known in Japan as “The Blue-eyed Samurai”, an acknowledgment of his true Samurai Spirit.

Is it only available in Kindle edition? Do you need a Kindle or can you just download it to the computer? Later on is a physical copy going to be published?
Thanks!

He mentioned on FB that he is considering Print on Demand. ... I prefer a hardcopy - feeling the texture of the paper, smelling it and so on ...

Osu Ashiharakaicho,
Why not invite him to K4L while you are talking to him?

Must be a good book - This was Shihan Cam Quinn's comment on his facebook page
" Just finished reading Nicholas Pettas's Blue Eyed Samurai. I recommend it to all who would like a clearer picture of what Honbu uchi deshi training means, what Kyokushin means and how serious, but balanced, one should be if you want to connect your goals, your passion and your values. Osu, Nick, well done."
Will have to keep my eyes open at the airports

Let's hope one of the Japanese companies opt to print it because there seems to be a bigger amount of karate books published in Japan than outside. Alternatively, that he can do the Print on Demand route.
The interest on his FB page is very evident but it is the numbers that makes the difference in printing a hard copy.

This book is out in paperback(large print) since 4th Jan. It would be an interesting read because he trained at the same time as nathan ligo, who also wrote a book describing the same time period in honbu. It would be interesting to see his perspective on honbu dojo at that time and people then.

It's a good read-I got it on kindle (it was my first xmas day purchase)
I too thought I wouldn't 'go kindle' due to the 'feel of the book' the 'smell' etc.............................. but so far so good
The book makes u feel the uchi deshi experience (or so I would imagine)
it details the lows as well as the highs of the experience.
Well worth perusing!
(anyone suggest another???)

By the way. If you want a signed version of the book, you can send a message to Nicholas Pettas on his facebook. I think he said it'll cost 30 USD. Can't remember.
