Many people including myself wondered how Jimmy died, according to the inquest he died of a tragic accident indoors with no suspicious circumstances.

According to the report he may of been in a dark place before his death, i remember Jimmy as a youngster, son of Syd Lockless ballroom dancer and old school karateka. I was very sad to hear of his death and send my condolences to family and friends...Jimmy lived about two miles from me.

His dad must have been a character interesting combination of activities - would have like to have seen footage of his Karate given the ballroom dancing

Both were high grades about 3rd or 4th dan, Syd was known as "Syd the sweep" if you knew him and knew what was coming, no problem but when we had visitors of any sort and they sparred you would eventually hear the crash of somebody hitting the wooden floor deck!..Syd was the only person i know who stayed 3rd kyu longer that me and i was about five years!

Syd had bashed a few youngsters or low grades and myself (much bigger) and two others decided to teach him a lesson...i went first and i think i may of hurt him, a local champ went next and he still stayed on is feet and a guy who was a pro boxer and England regular before the split went last (the instructor that night) and STILL didn`t finish him and he took his place in the end line up, got dressed and went home!....I am told he had a week off of work and dancing but he didn`t tell anybody and didn`t moan!

I had the greatest respect, as we all did!..and his high mawashis were as bad as mine

I'm very sorry to hear about Jim ,he was my first karate teacher as a kid and i trained with him over the years sometimes he was a truly gifted martial artist who loved karate , i remember he had perfect control of all his kicks and could perform yoko geri jodan and hold it there effortlessly .He wasgood bloke to,i'm gutted.
