Conference
The conference will be on Nov.21st, starting at 19:00.
The place will be somewhere around New Yorker Hotel or in the hotel conference room.
There will be Azuma sensei (founder and grand master), and a few top fighters who are also instructors. If you want to buy Daidojuku goods (T-shirts, sweat, etc), tournament DVD, fist guard, or anything, let me know. They can bring some. Unfortunately these are in Japanese, but they have pictures.

DVD of world championship tournament is good to watch.
BTW, would you guys like to have training seminar with them?
To learn and practice some of Kudo skills?

I would definitely love that, but I doubt I can make it if it was that day.

Information Clarification
Osu!
This is Joseph with Daidojuku. Just a little background information. I am a Daidojuku liason officer/foreign branch conflict resolutionist/translator for Azuma Jukucho and Daidojuku. I have trained at the Sohonbu in Ikebukuro and have been with the Daidojuku organization for 5 years and currently reside in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately, due to business, I will be unable to personally assist Jukucho on his visit to New York City. I saw that this forum site had quite a bit of information on his visit and wanted to clarify the reasons for his visit to the Big Apple.
First I would like to thank everyone who has expressed interest in Daidojuku and Kudo.
His visit to NYC is mainly informational. Jukucho had received quite a few emails from martial arts students in New York who were interested in learning more about Daidojuku and Kudo. As some of you may already know from emails, Columbia is holding a Kudo National Tournament. Since he would be traveling through the area he thought it would be a great opportunity to stop by New York City and meet those who were interested in our system. He will be traveling with several senpai, including Igarashi senpai who placed 2nd in the 2005 World Tournament.
He will be showing some video clips and explaining the Kudo style and answering questions. I believe Kudo Green will be doing the translating. The question we would like answered by any of you who attend is "Are you interested in pursuing Kudo as a martial art?" Please let us know what you think once you've attended the meeting.
Let me know if you would like a proper seminar to be conducted. I'm sure Azuma Jukucho and my senpai's would be delighted to conduct one. It would be good to have a matted area though, if anybody can provide or find one. Local YMCA perhaps? (not sure what their regulations are regarding martial arts)
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns:

Joseph

Osu Joseph,
Nice of you to share information re: Daido Juku. I have seen some highlights of the fights and fighting style. It addresses a fighters need to be an all around and well rounded fighting machine.
Sad though Daido Juku site is still under construction. A lot of the fight video clips could not be viewed and appreciated.
I do hope your website gets up and running again.
Best wishes.
Osu!

lol...you are right. The fight clips on the website are a bit outdated. Oddly enough they took a life on their own with users posting Daidojuku clips on youtube and other movie sites. We are currently working to get a newer Daidojuku videos up on the site. This will take a little time, but look forward to getting all of this information up for visitors.
Thank you.

Osu Joseph,
I hope your site would upload besides new fights the Highlight of Kancho Azuma - Daido Juku Spirit. This is an inspirational video clip that makes me realize how one man could make a big difference in the World of Martial Arts.
I have the video clip of What is Kudo? and often show this at our Honbu Dojo to the members. They enjoyed the clip very much. Much more I am sure if they watch Daido Juku Spirit.
Thanks you.
Osu!

Daidojuku Tournaments
Osu! Fab(SonnyCrockett)! How are you? It's Joseph. Hope you are doing good.
kyokushin4life - The world tournament is every four years. November 2005 was the last. 2009 should be the next. This Sunday is the 2006 Hokutoki Open Weight Tournament. Every year there are two major tournaments in Japan and several large ones around the world, including the Moscow Tournament.

Sad though our server has barred youtube because of viruses coming from
their site. If it would not be much to ask to upload at megaupload some of the clips.
I would greatly appreciate such kindness and generosity.

Osu
I am sorry for delayed introduccion of myself.
My name is Shunsuke. I used to train at Daidojuku HQ in Ikebukuro.
I currently hold greenbelt. I train with friends occaisionaly in NYC.
and I am helping their NY trip this time.
Guys, video clips are great!
I am surprised to see Ichihara senpai in the clip.
Anyway, let me take a poll.
How many of you guys are interested in coming to seminar?
Do you prefer 21st or 22nd?
21st would be after 7pm, and 22nd could be around 5 or 6pm.
The story is:
As Joseph senpai stated earlier,
Azuma sensei's original purpose was to have informational session, but since we are having Igarashi senpai who was 2nd place for super heavy weight in 2005 Kudo world championship, and two branch directors in Japan, I thought it would be nice to have seminar and receive training from them, right?
I convinceed Azuma sensei to do a seminar here in NYC.
Azuma sensei agreed to conduct one.
So, If you are interested, please send me email at
skaneko1@msn.com
and sorry my English is not so good. If it is not clear, also send me email.
Shun
Osu Joseph senpai,
I sent you email to daidojuku@gmail.com
Did you receive it?

When you say Azuma is going to Columbia for a tournament, do you mean Columbia University? As in, it is close enough where I can go watch it?

(Funny thing btw, I tought they had gotten rid of the word "karate" from their name, but its still there in the organization name)
|
Osu,
Just a correction. Daidojuku has not used the Karate name or Kakuto Karate since 2001. The Daidojuku organization is officially known as KIF or Kudo International Federation. Since 2001 the martial art has officially been called Kudo and no longer Kakuto Karate or Hamidashi Karate or any other name given in the past. The brief explanation for this change is, we are pushing Kudo to become an official Japanese national budo sport, like Judo and Kendo. The details of this change will go up on wikipedia shortly.
Take care and thanks,
Joseph

Hello,
Jukucho will be travelling to Columbia, South America for the Columbian National Kudo Tournament. Columbia is in the process of making Kudo a national sport and this is a celebratory tournament involving the sports minister and other government officials.
Thank you,
Joseph
