One more thing, do you know who were the Kyokushin fighters in the tournament? Were they IKO-1 ? Which other karate styles were represented there?

Does anybody know why that guy got expelled from the fighting area? I've never seen anything like that.

For people who claim to be Budoka that is a disgraceful scene.

That incident stains a bit the HL but the rest of the fights seem very interesting and dynamic.
Loqui, I think that guy who got expelled out of the ring was a Kyokushin fighter (at least judging by the kanji on his gi) maybe because he kicked the other guy while he was on the floor even though it didn't seem like a powerfull kick. You can't tell what happened there exactly judging by this highlight but when i saw those guys jumping into the ring to beat the other fighter i thought that was pretty shameful. Certainly not a budoka attitude. However you can spot some other Kyokushin fighters in this HL. I'm just curious about their affiliation.

I don't think it is appropriate to educate students in the public.

I agree but i think that's a common thing in Shidokan events from what i've read in a forum. Maybe to prevent similar incidents?

The guy got expelled is a Shidokan guy.

To be honest, Soeno Tatsuichi's actions to the expelled guy is a classical yukuza's behaviour.

I am not trying to give a bad name for karate, but the Soeno clan is a Japanese yakuza which has close connections with the ring wing, this a not a secret in Japan. Futhermore, Maki, Kurosaki Kenji are also yakuzas, these 3 people have a good relationship (they had created ShinKatougi-jutsu (another name for muay thai in Japan) Renmei during the late 70s).

I'm not trying to argue your point but I'm curious where you got this information and if you have a reference regarding this syndicate affiliation.

Im always a little wary of hearsay evidence of how various senior Karateka are affiliated to theYakuza its a weighty charge that seems to be flung about a little to lightly for my liking .
I enjoyed the highlight and would like to see more of that tournament,im mystified by the way a fairly minor infraction in the heat of battle turned into such an unsightly incident the fighter that was expelled didnt seem to have done anything to warrant such an extreme reaction perhaps there was more to it than the highlights showed .

I have, over the years heard at one point or another that almost all high ranking Japanese instructors have links to the Yakuza - Sosai included. Not once has any evidence been provided to back up these claims.

I was actually happy to see that Soeno san (if that was him) had expelled that guy.

quick question

definately liked the highlight vid. i was browsing through the shidokan site, and reading the competition rules. at least for shidokan usa, grappling techniques (arm-bars, etc., not throws) are expressly forbidden during the karate and muay-thai stages of the match. however, you can clearly see the competitiors using grappling techniques. anyone know if the rules have been changed? or were they slightly different for that competition? any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard those rumour about Sosai being envolved with the Yakuza but i've also heard that he's been envolved as well in many fights with yakuza gangsters. But it's just rumours so there's use to to put much thinking into the question.
