I think MJW trained with Brian Bastien a few years back, not sure if he is still actively training though.

Michael Jai White learned kyokushin from Shigeru Oyama, not shotokan. He earned his 2nd degree in the early 80’s. He trained at the Fairfield dojo next to Caldors. When Michael moved to LA he wanted to train in kyokushin again, so, he trained under Brian Bastien. Michael was asked to wear a white belt in class and had no problem with it. The funny part was watching him teach the blackbelt there katas.
