Hey all I have been searching for an instructor in Utah I saw some Daido Juku and am in love with it. I currently study Kempo, I am a serious student looking to broaden my horizons any help would be appreciated.

same response

Same Here; the closest you can come to is MusoKai in Salt Lake City; same principles but not as hard core. All of their guys were beaten pretty quickly when some Kyokushin guys came to town for a tournament back in 2000. The closest place is that Tiger School in Denver; as the previous poster stated. I think part of the problem is that Utah is so against full contact schools. There was a school in Orem that had full contact fights and got shut down pretty quick.

Musokai dojo has produced some awesome fighters, my own sensei Johny Rochette took second place in Sabaki in Denver, in heavyweight, and several other of the Musokai fighers have faired well, even Hassain, who is fairly famous in Japan, and some south American fighters, Arturo. Of course, this is the olden days of the school in Salt Lake, I don't know about now, I do know that there is a Nidan who is now training in Muay Thai, a woman. Also, there is a Kyokushin-kai sensei at the Nazarene church, if you are looking for Judo, Sensei Ray Wed. at Cottonwood High School, and Sensei Chen at Columbus community center, monday and wed, both are Sandan, good luck and Osu!

Muso Kai

Muso Kai fighters have fought in Sabaki challenge, All Japan kyokushin and world Koshiki karate tournaments.

They train full contact and fight full contact.

They have beat Kyokushin fighters in Muso Kai tournaments and have lost to kyokushin fighter in Kyokushin tournaments.

Usually that is how things work in the Karate world.

I have personally beat many kyokushin, enshin, asihara, Muay Thai etc fighter.
Some have beat me at times.

I don't say this to be put anyone down. But kyokushin should know better than to make such broad statements.

You guys don't even do face punch.

Welcome to the forum Musokai3-san. Osu.
Not everyone has the same opinions.. one person in the forum made the statement. It does not mean all of us here have the same opinion. Plus this is a forum with great number of kyokushin practitioners and some from derived styles.

"you guys don't even do face punch?" I am a little confused, as to who "you guys" are?

I have trained under Ninomiya, Rochette, Arikaki, "Kim" (TKD), and I hate to admit it, but even Stidham, as well as judo and aikido. I think that despite my kyokushin-kai background, and my training to (primarily) hit below the neck (Johny Rochette says, "you fight the way you train"), I might just punch someone in the face, and have, when needed?" ;o)

Osu!

Lewis

I agree, and "I don't mean to be rude," either, Sensei Rochette always said to be respectful...

Lewis

Actually, Stidham's school trains full contact Kickboxing, and MMA. But you are right, Utah was mostly points schools, Wado and Kempo, for years and years, with the Wado guys winning the Wado tournaments with their deep stances and Kiai reverse punch, and the Kempo guys winning theirs with their backfist. The full contact school(s) would get penalized for even using some light contact. They had to stay "in-house, only."

Everybody calm down.

I think it all starts with the third post when a member slipped out another school "is not as hardcore" as Kyokushin. 99.9% of our members will not make such statements and the rage from a member of that school is understandable. The politics-free objective of has been strictly kept for two years and it is what keep our forums alive

We do not need to defend Kyokushin with mouth fighting or by putting down other schools.

OSU!
