Did Canan Yorulmaz win both female light and heavy weight category ?

Or is that a mistake in the results?

See what i found ,
31-05-2008 Canan and her coaches went to the cultural city of Europe; Berlin. Canan was going to fight at the European open. Dued to the fact there were to little participants, the organisation asked Canan whether she was willing to compete in lightweight aswell as in heavy weight. And that's what happened.

Canan started of with hard kicks and punches and her first two opponents really got a serious whooping. After the first 2 fights Canan was more relaxed and she fought a hell of a tournament. Fighting in two weight divisions eventually resulted in the remarkable situation of having to fight 2 finals!

The first final the light weight division was won over opponent Mary Veight a german girl whom Canan also beat in the final of the german open 2007.

The second final (heavy weight division) was against a 76 kg Polish girl. De weight difference of almost 25 kg was difficuilt but Canan was this eager that afterall it didn't matter at all. She beat the Polish girl convincingly after making a few kicks at her head.

Canan now is the reigning European champion IBK in the light and heavy weight division. Besides that Canan was awarded with a real samurai-sword (katana) for being the best fighter overall (stamina, spirit and technique)!

3 awards to take home to La Sala Tilburg!
