Gunma Prefecture is not exactly centrally located.
In terms of access, it is probably a good 3 to 4 hours north of Tokyo station (quicker by bullet train)...
I am sure that there is a logical reason for this, it just struck me as different than most major tourneys you see in Japan...they are almost always held in the same areana, regardless of the organization.

Kancho Matsushima's dojo is there, so maybe that's the reason? I know that they have made special arrangements with a local bus-line to get folks from the airport in Tokyo to the tournament site.

That would make sense...I knew that there was a logical reason!
The poster also has the main sponsor as a local Gunma company, so I figured that there was a connection to it all!
I lived in Gunma for a while (in Maebashi) and it is a fantastic place...there is something to be said to wake up and be surrounded by mountains!

I wish I was there, I think the Russian andIranian teams will dominate like last time. A couple of big names there on both teams.

I've been looking as well. Nothing on the IKO3 website (unless there's something on the Japanese side). I saw a small article in an Iranian newspaper saying that they had four fighters who all placed 1st or 2nd.
