I live in NYC and its hard finding a good affordable Kyokushin dojo, but then I found a dojo called Shinkyokushin. I wanted to know if its a offshoot of Kyokushin, is it better hard than regular Kyokushin or is this still Kyokushin but different organization?

There are a few Kyokushin organisations and Shinkyokushin also called IKO2 or WKO
is One of them .
As a matter of fact Sensei Sato is a member of the forum : )

Shinkyokushin, also know as IKO2 or WKO, is basically kyokushin. The orginization is led by former world champion Kenji Midori. The kihon, kata and kumite is all kyokushin. The politics of this all is too complicated to explain here, but more information can be found on the net if you´re really interested.

There is a lot of kyokushin karate and several good kyokushin offshots in NY. Which "kyokushin karate new york" do you refer to?

WKO Shinkyokushin (sometimes called IKO2) IS kyokushin. Its not a offshot style, its one of the kyokushin organizations. The second largest kyokushin organization to be exact.
But you also got atleast one IKO1 dojo there somewhere.

Yes, I am the excellent instructor of New York Shinkyokushinkai.

I would recommend you to go visit the dojos and if possible take a trial class to see if the class fits your needs.
