Kyle Maynard

For those of you that don't know who Kyle Maynard is he just had his first MMA fight and lost to decision. Which may not sound like much but Kyle is a congenital amputee and went the distance. He tried to have his first MMA fight in '07 but was denied. Congratulations, Kyle.

Osu!

As I recently recommended to a friend, "No Excuses" by Kyle Maynard. If it doesn't give a little perspective, I don't know what can.

Osu!

Many I would hate to be in the ring with that guy. If you win, you've beaten up a disabled guy and if you loose you've lost to a disabled guy.

I wouldn't look at it that way if someone in his condition beat me. It would mean he was the better man and taught me something I could learn from.

I wouldn't go easy on him neither..that wouldn't be showing him respect for all the training he did to test his skills.

this whole fiasco is probably going to backfire. he said he wanted to do this to help "shed the barbaric image of the sport"... well what are people going to think now? theyll think its a sport that lets an able bodied man fight against a guy with severe disabilities in a cage... thats like the height of barbarism. we might as well throw some of the ultimate fighter guys from the house into a coloseum with lions.

i think this was a bad idea all around and a bad move on everyones part. the competitors that went through with it and the people that made it happen. the people that arent fans of the sport are probably going to hold this up as one more reason to continue not watching it, which will leave it stuck in the rut of struggling for legitimacy.

i have an old friend thats a boxer and the only combat sport he watches is boxing. i cant imagine how the next conversation with him will go. he will have a field day with this.
