Osu!
I think the Dvd’s are just one interpretation of many possible (as used in Europe…)
Japanese Shihans do not worry to much about bunkai, all bunkai are accepted if that works.
A little info about Shihan Kron:
Shihan Bertrand Kron (Branch-Chief, Godan Kyokushinkai IKO 1, 6th dan FFK)

Finaly thanks for the reply
How good is the applications?
Are they practical?
How good is the explanation?
What is FFK?
Do you recommend the DVD? "I realize it's one interpretation but i'm open to all interpretation as I will see what fits me most & try to apply it"

Yes, I think the DVD’s are really good, because it suits the Kyokushin Kumite effectiveness.
Is not just a simply Bunkai Kata like Shotokan or Goju, but those applications are adapted to our Kumite full contact style.
But this is just my opinion.
I think that F. F. K. is Fédération Française de Karate.
I’m sure that we can learn a lot from those DVD’s.

Osu, with Respect to Shihan Kron,
I have the dvds, and on a whole i wouldnt recommend them. Specially not for beginners because he also performs his kata`s on the dvds and from my point of view there are certain errors in there that i would not want students to copy. Some of the bunkai are nice, others dont work (for me anyways). For example his yoi dachi is what i would call a fudo dachi... and in his nukite i feel that the thumb is extended to far from the side of the hand (for me it should rest/lean against the side of the hand)
Some of the idea`s he has are fresh and new to me, but it differs to the point that i either dont agree or cant see it working... I also agree more with his bunkai for the lower kata (pinan`s) then with the bunkai`s for the advanced kata`s...
Osu
Ksan
p.s. I am not a Shihan and the creator of these dvd`s is... so i can be mistaken where he is not, please keep that in mind...

Yes, it means "Fédération Française de Karate". It's a national organisation that, among other things, regulates the curriculum for dan ranking in France (for all karate styles, including Kyokushin). (FFK) Dan have an official value and can be required for assuming certain functions (e.g. instructor). However, these grading don't really take Kyokushin specificity into account. That's why many Kyokushin practitioners grade in an other federation as well.
(that's my understanding).

What are the situations the bunkai is designed against?
Is it the Iain abernethy approach (realistic streetfight attacks, often combinations of punches, in natural stances from close distances. "A punch is not always a punch, a block is almost never a block")?
or is it the "traditional" bunkai approach (attacker comes in with single formal karate kihon techniques, in formal zenkutsu dachi, from very long distance, "freezing" after every attack. "A punch is a punch, a block is a block")?
If it is the former, I would not mind buying them and have a look. If it is the latter, I can wait.

Its both, what shihan thinks to be official bunkai and what he call`s bunkai-kumite, practical applications for fighting...
