"In-Fighting" Strategies
I find that a lot of newbies don't like people up in their face and usually try to fight from a distance. This mentality has stayed with a lot of my peers who started Kyokushin Karate around the same time as me.
Personally, I'm comfortable with fighting from the inside. However, my limbs are kind of long, so I can't punch up close without throwing from a diagonal angle. So recently, I've been working on my kicking from the inside. Many people don't expect high kicks from up close. So I want to develop a way to bring my opponent's guard down and change up the distance so I can kick high. This is where I found spinning uchi mawashi geri, thrown with the back leg, useful. If we're both standing pretty square and trading punches from up close, I think a few shita tsukis, step back, and a jodan mawashi geri would be very effective as well. Has anyone else found any good strategies for fighting up close?

got this one from my kickboxing days...
from close kicking range, drop an axe kick onto the opponent's guard, then use your forward momentum to either step through with a gyaku zuki (my choice), or step into a jodan mawashi geri at the neck/jaw area...

Working the inside is very difficult for me in Enshin and when sparring MMA rules but, what I try to do is use punches to set up kicks ,punches to the soloplex and sides, also I don't know if this is alowed in Kyokushin but after a couple of punches to the body you may be able to drop their guard with your hands, ie push there hands out of the way, then throw the high kick.

Kancho Matsui was one of the few people I habe ever seen who can kick effectively at punching distance. When it came to infighting if you look back at old videos of him fighting look for him to move laterally and start to use both knees into one of his opponents thighs left, right left and then break.

Even the official website of Noji is down.
Only people closely connected to him will know what is happening. Wish you well, Noji! OSU!

I will say that when I first started kyokushin, I always fought outside. That was because I was used to fighting from a distance in shotokan, because a tap punch to the chest is a point but vice versa is true in kyokushin.
A tap punch to the chest means lights out for the other guy ^^b. Anyways I like the look on people's faces when you are in fighting and you are both whaling away on each other's legs and chest and you have that moment where you look at each and mentally say "I'm not giving up, are you?"

I used to fight from the outside when I started out because I had reasonably good footwork and could move in and out. As I get older I have started to come into a more mid to close range fighting.
