I like to aim at the solar plexus for the knockdown.

Osu! Yes. Beginner like myself often doesn't know which part of body is weaker and good for attacking in sparring. Maybe some of you can share with your experience. I have attached a picture of what I think in the first post, but not sure if it's correct.

The reason I asked was that you seem to have circled the groin which is not a target in Knockdown rules.
Move a few inches higher and try punching down into the belt knot - this applies pressure to the bladder and we all know what its like to have a full bladder - its extremely uncomfortable and while it probably wont knock down your opponent it will take their focus away from other areas.

Cool idea, Bloke
![]() One of my sempais really likes using gedan mawashi geris behind the knee or at the calf to disrupt my balance, it's a nice little move.

BigAl I like that idea - nice one. Even if you dont down the person they will still get hurt a little and expend time and energy trying to retain balance.
If you have well conditioned shins we use this one from time to time. It looks like a sweep on the front leg. Using your left leg (assuming your opponent has thier left leg forward) kick like a really low kick to just above the ankle on the inside of your opponents left leg - on the side of the lower part of the shin or a little to the back. Hurts like hell.

It would make sense to use it if allowed to do so..makes bare knuckle body punches have much more stopping power. Some kung fu styles use it almost exclusively.

If my memory serves me right, in a biographical article of Tanigawa Kou it was said that he used "nakayubi ippon ken" in kyokushin fights due to his training in shorinji-kempo. After one fight his opponent had to stay away from tournaments for half a year due to the injury caused.
OSU!

Osu,
what about balance. It´s not a particular weak point , but De-Ashi-barai (foot-sweep) can be very useful in a fight too, especially mentally. Like Shokei Matsui did in his fighting period. Osu |

in the street, yes...I prefer not to actually kill my sparring partners, so would never use it in the dojo...
