Is the axe kick native to karate? I don't see this done in the other arts.

Yes, it is beautiful to watch (especially when it lands).

Dear feels,
This kick is also popular in Taekwondo (called "Naeryo Chagi"). Andy Hug Shihan made this kick popular in Kyokushin (I think he has never said that he learnt it from Taekwondo).


This kick was quite frequently used at the last world tournament (IKO-Matsui).
