Nice Thread...

Please let me add my humble opinion about open hand techniques.

Nukite is seen in Kata, and I propose that when you see a nukite you are not striking at all, but are manipulating, sweeping, grabbing, twisting, throwing, and YES blocking.

Shuto can be used for striking.

There is nothing wrong with bread and butter techniques, seiken and gedan mawashi geri's. As it has been stated, do what works and find what works for you.

I think we often get caught up in the techinque but remember the real goal of it all is to polish our spirit, even competition is to test ones spirit. Or even in competition the goal is to win, so do what works...
