Osu!

Our small group follows the IKO1 standard Kihon for the most part. Rather than try to explain it, if you are going to try and self-teach, I recommend you purchase the official videos.

Osu, though we've been with Rengokai now for a few years our basic training hasn't changed from IKO1 either

I've been to Shihan Shichinohe's Dojo in Naha, and it was classic training, with some very strong members.

I practice in our most advanced class, and we usually practice it with high pace, maybe as a part of warm-ups. We are expected to practice kihon outside class, so we can focus on other things during class.

Keep in mind that few people advice that you practice karate out of a textbook or video, unless you already have experience. This is because without a sempai to correct you, you will acquire bad habits and quirks that may be very hard to "unlearn" and it may also give you a false sense of confidence.

I think the basic kihon changes little between the various iko´s or even between kyokushin, goju-ryu, shotokan, etc. The actual syllabus and what is taught at different grades will be different as are the katas. I´m sure I´ve seen some basic kihon videos on yt, as well as the famous ´kyokushin warm up´ video. Maybe you could start with those.
