Do you train at home?
Do you train at home, or only in the dojo/gym? If so, what kind of space, routine, equipment, etc. do you use at home?
When not at the Dojo, I only work out at home or outside because I don't belong to a gym. I live in a small one bedroom apartment, but have sufficient space for the types of workouts I do. I use bodyweight, kettlebells, sandbags and other assorted objects for lifting. I do a joint mobility routine every morning after waking up, I try to do some kata or kihon everyday afterwards. My weight training sessions are usually done in a circuit with limited rest for about 20-45 minutes 4-5 times a week. ![]() Martin

I am training at home this month because of the distance i travel to training at the dojo is quite far and pretty much san diego sux because not really that much of dojos or any good places to train. So what i do is forearm training, which is hitting side of wall. Push up on hard concrete on my nuckles ounce a week run down the park to do sprints kata and training on the tree. With soft kicking on the chins more forearm, Nuckle pushups. I am going to look over at the thai boxing gym soon over the road. May be ill train there soon. Sad story i know no kyokushin here.

I really only stretch, pushups, situps/crunches at home but when I had a bigger place at one time i used to train a lot. I also had a lot of my friends that lived nearby to spar with in the backyard during good weather. I'm afraid I can only find people to spar MMA rules here, which isn't what I'm into, I'm more into knockdown or muay thai rules.

I do push ups, shit ups and some stretch every other day to keep my shape not for karate.
I do squats or shiko-fumi as karate training when I have time to kill. Say, when I have a few minutes for car service or train, I would do some stretch and shiko. When I ride elevator, I do 20~30 squats. Waiting for somebody in a hallway at work, I knock on marble wall to train my knuckle etc....

Yes I train at home too.
Kata, sylabus & renraku can be done at home.

I do weights and sometimes fitness (depending on the weather as I have to work out outdoors). I've also been doing some bag work until recently when we had some remodelling done to the house - will have to hang the bag again
![]() I've also developed the habit to take a fighting stance and start shaddow boxing every time there's a big mirror around - have spent up to half an hour in the loo at work sometimes working on my technique!!!! Oops...! ![]()

I do most of my training at home now. Luckily have space for bag, static cycle and some weights. Even without too much space, always did some conditioning - running, situps, pressups, squats and stretching at home. Always found that just a couple of hours a week at a dojo not really enough. Kihon and renraku doesn´t need too much space either, but kata a bit more difficult. Need to use your imagination there.

OSU! Another question. Do you ever work out at work? I forget that alot of people have office jobs or jobs where they are locked in for long hours. My jobs have always been based on having good physical ability so starting to work out in the middle of the work day was never thought of as odd. I love stories of people doing some squats or pushups in the middle of an office, and the coworkers look at them as if they are crazy! Osu, Satodojo, Squats in the elevator! I love it.

Osu!
Yes, being without a Dojo at the moment, the house has become some kind of refuge for my gear. (Started drilling holes for my new pull up bar. The old one was easier to cheat on, but Fat Boy is going to have to work to pull himself up on this one. )The mats are great for the kids to jump about on, and they challenge each other to kick for height on the heavy bag. All in all, not a terrible thing to have the gear at home. I do miss out on the movement with a Dojo though. And being able to eyeball someone else on Kata. ![]() Osu! |

Osu!
And as far as odd places to practice: I got caught doing Tensho in church. Well, if I'm going to be forced to go... ![]() Osu! |

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAaaaaaa....... Ah, if only... Could have gone two ways. Either I could have got out of it completely, or I'd have free access to an exorcism. ![]() ![]() Osu! |

For free Exorcism, you need to use Split Pea Soup as well...LOL

![]() I'm quite lucky I guess, I've got a gym at home about 10 x 17 foot, It used to have a smith machine, bunch of free weights and multi gym in but as I can't use most of that cause of me bad arm I've put down a 15mm padded floor over most of it and just spend about an hour and a half a day doing kicking or bag circuits and some Kata etc. Hard training alone sometimes though

It is true hard training alone is real though, I feel tired faster if I train alone rather than with my friend, on the other hand train alone make me more intense which mean I do all in more quantity. I wonder is it the cause I got tired faster if I train alone~~
