Ambidextrous Karate-ka
I'll keep this simple, Im left handed for writing but my right hand is dominant for punching and other sports tennis, cricket etc.
I kick balls, football (soccer) etc with my left foot, but for mawashi's my right is dominant. It gets more complicated, when doing and ushiro mawashi im more dominant using my left foot. I could go on and on, but for some reason i've always been like that. Just wondering if theres anyone else similar?

I can fight as easily as a right handed person than as a left handed person. I still need to figure a way to make that useful in kumite, lol.

Osu!
I have an equally odd assortment of technique that are better one one side than the other. I just think that means I have to work harder on improving the weak side. ![]() Osu!

I think I belong to this club as well
.I'm right handed but hit harder with my left, my left leg is stronger but mawashi geris flow easier and faster with the right and so do all spinning back kicks.![]()

I'm dominant with my right side. This also means that I'm better at spinning back kicks with my left leg. I think this is because I then get to spin on my right leg.

I'm also left handed for writing, but my right is dominant for practically everything else (ball sports, racquets, bats & clubs etc
)I have found though, a left hander tends to be more dexterous with the non preferred hand, for example with racquet sports like tennis and squash i can play equally (as badly) with my left or right hand When i used to play competition squash i would often change hands if it suited.I have never actually felt a dominant side when training karate, I cant honestly say i prefer one side or the other, as for my spinning back kicks, well, they suck on both sides ![]() I probably kick better with my right foot, but that is more to do with the fact that my right knee is completely stuffed, therefore when kicking with my left foot the dodgy knee has to bear all the weight and i dont move as well with it. Interesting that all us normal people (left handers) can use the right hand better than the rightys can use their left Bren |

It is interesting that all you frea- *cough* I mean people - are better at using your non-dominant side. One of my lefty mates has a very quick and strong left jab, while still packing sufficient power with his right.

I am a lefty but fight Orthodox - this is for 2 reasons first my stronger hand is closer so my jab is stronger and my right which is weaker gets further to travel so evening things up nicely (BL actually did this the other way around as does Kenny Jarvis
) Secondly my balance on my predominant leg is better so my spinning kicks are much quicker off my right, no better just quicker. Blazzindave - I switch quite a lot so as to use the maximum power from any given tech, especially usefully close up.

I am also of similar fighting style.
I was born left hand dominant but the schools made me learn right hand. SO I always have but I can easily switch stance to Southpaw no problem. Also my left kicks are better too lol. I actally love to go Southpaw on people while sparing as it totally throws them off.

I am right handed and left footed. I can fight comfortably on either side though as I've trained on both sides. To overcome fighting orthodox (as I've done for a long time) I have learned some combinations having the right leg forward only and they were my 'southpole combinations' I've learned to think fast when i was changing stances and to flow from one side to the next. I'm not bothered anymore what side is forward and I can do my combinations and techniques on both sides.
