Rammstein. Nightwish. Within Temptation. Epica. Trail of tears. Lots of other metal/goth/industry.
Pogues. Floggin Molly. Mahones and a few other "Irish punk". Only the high tempo/heavy beat tunes work as inspiration. Other music styles that I listen to (trad celtic, blues, classic etc etc) just dont work as training music -but sometimes works as relaxation music. Techno, Rap and others dont work either, since they are just not my kind of music. LoQi. Same here in sweden. Our libraries has music CDs (and DVDs in some places) that you can borrow. The selection is not always the best though (actually, the selection sucks, but I am not sure if it is the fault of the libraries that dont stock good stuff, or of morons who steal/destroy the CDs for amusement).

All the cool old school punk. I like the more anarchist type bands like Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Minor threat, love the Cro Mags. All Oi is cool Templars, Sham 69, etc
I'm Filipino and Irisih (not white or Aryan in anyway) and in no way condone Nazism but for pure adrenaline pumping I love Nazi Oi. Romper Stomper soundtrack, Skrewdriver, anything where someone's radical convictions cause them to play really fast. |

It really depends on my mood... about 75% of the time, I'll listen to heavy rock or metal. Working the bag, I have used tempo kickboxing music before and it does good forcing me to keep the pace. Other times, I could just be listening to anything that fits my mood. I've even listened to 'mellow' music working the bag and it was an interesting combination. Even though I was hitting really hard, the music was keeping me calm and composed.

usually don't listen to music when i train, but if I would I would listen to hiphop, although it can be hard to find fast tracks. Two good tracks are STUNT 101 and BEG FOR MERCY, both with G-UNIT. Note: both tracks have explicit language

good smooth reggae music with a nice rhythm so i can work on my footwork. also, its good music, you just want to keep listening, therefore, you'll keep traing...getting in 5 more pushups, or one last rep for the road. You should try it....we used to listen to it while training in he afternoon with shuseki shihan oliver.

I love most kinds of music, but for some strange reason I never listen to any while trainig. Perhaps I'm losing out here?
A few have mentioned music for meditation. Do you mean "Meditational music", or do you mean you actually practice meditation with music on? I learned to meditate many years ago by attending a Tibetan Buddhist Vihara on a regular basis, and also by what I learned from books. I can only really get in that meditational "zone" with little noise around me. If practiced very regularly, I found that my tolerance to outside noise and potential distractions was much better. Sorry, I've strayed from the thread a bit. By the way, Martin H, I like your taste in music. Have you listened to Shane MacGowan and the popes? I think they are better in some ways as Shane was allowed to express himself a lot more without pressure from record companies. Osu! |

Well- no surprises here. I listen to ....classical guitar. There's an American composer called Andrew York who is one of my current favourites. Bach rocks. (no, seriously, he does). My favourite guitar quartet is Saffire, 2nd fave LAGQ.
Did I mention that i love classical guitar? ![]()

just tried short workout listening to the Pogues very loud.
Problem is I forget the music's on, at least I think so anyway. I can't seem to remember being aware of it while in the midst of exerting myself. Perhaps the start of senile dementia?? |
