I didnt go to training on Monday I felt pretty beat up and sore.
I know kyokushin training wouldve been a great recovery and there was the added incentive of getting a new belt but you gotta walk before you can run and I'm hobbling around a bit. In fact I tried to climb over a fence today and my legs were so heavy I couldnt get them over the fence I ended up tripping and falling. Some of my students saw me and laughed, there was nothing I could do but laugh too. After this incident I thought it best to start doing something again. So I returned to my original schedule and went to pre pre seasion aussie rules football training. We did 400m x1 200m x1 100m x1 50m x1 By this point I was throwing up. I can skip for ten minutes but this kind of interval running always provokes this reaction We then did about 30 mintues of drills. Which is usually some form of interval training with skills work. it is interesting that the position you have foot in as you make contact with the ball influences the way it moves in the air. Good practice for all thos kyokushin kick with specific foot positioning. Plus the same runs but in the reverse order. I actually found this a bit easier! 50m x1 100mx1 200mx1 4000mx1 I'll have to add some of these interval runs to my Sunday morning training. Ive always thought that 400m equals about 1 round of sparring in terms of time not effort. I've used them before for tourament training. Osu

The first class training of the year is always good to get under your belt.
I'd taken it pretty easy over the XMAS, New Year, Australian School Summer Holiday period. Just went running once a week. Going for long walks with the wife. Swimming in the ocean in the morning while we were at the beach for a holiday. Good Family Time! Every now and again did a little bit of kata and worked on my back kick. For some reason I've alwasy back kicks hardest. It is getting better still got to practice. This weeks plan Kyokushin Wed, Got Football Thursday (lots of 1km time trials), Open Kyokushin training Friday. It is good to get back in the swing of training regularly. My body feels strong Eg no injuries rest is always good for this situation. I didnt write down for some reason that before XMAS I did a 4 minute 1km time trial. I was proud of this. I know it is slower than most people I came second last. I've never been an endurance runner. Although I did the city-bay fun run 12km in 1 hour several years ago. Looking to get my 1km time trial down around the 3:30 range. If I can do this I'll be very satisfied. It is good to have training goals. Osu

Went to Australian Rules Football training tonight.
Spent 90 minutes continuously moving through various drills for skill and endurance. got the blood flowing and sweat pouring. At the end of the training session the coach has created a competition called the Push Up King about 30 men do push ups until they drop, everyone counts how many they have done and the person who has done the most is 'The King' scores are recorded and progress can be observed. Prize at the end of preseason is a cartoon of beer 24 cans/bottles. The most was 80 I got around 60 but next time Ill push myself as hard as a I can go. There is a similar competition for the 1000metre time trial. My aim is to get inside 4min for the time trial but have been running them weekly recently and havent got anywhere near 4min. People might wonder how this is related to kyokushin training. But I firmly believe that all training is kyokushin training. That which makes you stronger, fitter, quicker is good for your karate!!! I cant believe how fast time is flying.
I trained in kyokushin Monday last week but couldnt last night because of work commitments. Feels like an eternity since I put on a dogi and it has only been 8 days. I'll be training tomorrow night for sure. Cant wait to get into the dojo! Had Footy training tonight. The coach has decided we are team lacking height so we have to run run run which is perfect for me because it works my fitness. Tonight we started with the 1km time trial. Got around the course in 4:17. I was satisified with this but I know I can break the 4 min mark. We did some ball drills and then we did 5x10m 5x20m 5x30m 5x40m 5x50m sprints this was continuous and very difficult. We did the push up king again banged out 35 as a group counting out loud and then another 20. I was pretty tired after this training but we were finished in less than 90 minutes. Last Sunday I went running again. 1200m 400m 200m 100m 4x30m sprints. Really missing the kyokushin training cant wait to get back into it! Osu

I cant believe how fast time flys.
I've had a few issues with my health in the last few weeks which have restricted my training. last Wed wasmy first session for some time. I really enjoyed it. it was conducted at afurious pace for the first hour and a bit then we slowed down to practice tournament style fighting. it is amazing when you go away for a few weeks then come back and the lower grades have improved their kumite so much. Puts you to the test. Next Week two sessions! Went to Aussies rules training as well solid two hour training session Osu

Just got back from a week in Japan. Now when I go to Japan it is like going home. I have family there. It was a great trip didnt do any training but managed to watch some K-1 on TV saw Texeria and Feitosa fight. It is funny when you say this but Texeria doesnt look big enough to compete in K-1 at 187cm and 110kg. He has long way to go to be a serious contender at this level. But it was inspiring seeing someone outside of his comfort zone challenging himself to be a better fighter.
Looking forward to training this wed night. Should be hard after a couple of weeks of rest. Normally when you take a little break like this and get into training you feel good during training and pain for a few days afterwards. Osu
